The anti - junta uprising by Greek students at the Polytechnic School in Athens, 17th November 1973 is commemorated every year nationwide.
During the march and for hours afterwards riot police units clashed with masked protesters around the campus of the Aristotelion university.

The march throughout the city centre was crowded and quite peaceful. But everyone knew that clashes would take place near campus between riot police and masked protesters. Except for this time the asylum had been called off and police entered the campus chasing cocktail molotov throwers.
