About 600 protesters took to the streets of Thessaloniki, Greece to voice their concerns about the destruction of their homes and livelihoods by mining corporations in the northern Greece

The guys with the Critical Mass Ride decided to have some fun while promoting the idea of cycling as an alternative to the internal combustion engine in Thessaloniki by having a water fight. So instead of duelling pistols at dawn it was water pistols at sunset.

It's good to remember that despite all the doom and gloom caused by the economic crisis life goes on, people have fun, joke, laugh, fall in love and have babies and do all the things that the rest of the world does no matter how bleak things seem to get.

Street Panthers strike again

In just over 30 minutes (11.30am) the Greek Street Panthers eco activist are going to carry out a similiar protest to the one shown in the video in the centre of Thessaloniki in an attempt to make people think more about the use of cars in the city. If you happen to be in Aristotelous Square, near the police station then pop by and check it out. If you can't make it then follow their live stream broadcast here.
