Lydia and I had a great time this weekend relaxing and catching up on each other's news. Sometimes just doing nothing is enough and I'm not a great one for structuring a child's time with a plethora of activities. I've seen enough young people run ragged by parents who think that unless their offspring are engaged in some activity 24/7 then they've failed in bringing them up correctly.
As much as we want to give our children the best opportunities possible there is still a place for fun, contemplation and even laziness.

Lydia the photographer
Yesterday was a lazy day which saw me and Lydia wander down to the centre and met up with friends for coffee and conversation.

Lydia is feeling much better
First of all, I'd like to say thank you to everyone who expressed their concern on the blog and elsewhere. I spoke to Lydia again and she was bright and breezy today, so it seems that yesterday's fears were groundless. However, no TV, PC or games for the next couple of days and plenty of rest.

Fly with me
Yesterday, me, Lydia and friends drove to Stageira, the birthplace of Aristotle in Halkidiki. He wasn't in so we played in his garden instead.

Guess who it is.
Today was a chance to cook, bake and spend time with Lydia. So we made some souzoukakia (Greek meat balls in tomato sauce) and lemon cake for afters.

Saturday night in
We invited friends over, cooked and had a great time catching up on news. Thankfully, Lydia had kept on prompting me and so I did a bit of shopping, made a few phone calls and we had a dinner party. The flat was full of laughing kids and chatting adults having a great time. What more could anyone ask for on a Saturday night?
