Evangelos Venizelos addressing Greek election rally. Thessaloniki, Greece

Secret service personal protecting PASOK leader, Evangelos Venizelos at party rally

Everything I wrote about in the previous post happened more or less as about 1000 hardcore PASOK party supporters turned up to hear Evangelos Venizelos speak, but judging by the TV footage you'd think it was ten times that many. Despite my predictions, however, security was a little more lax and there were no protests by irate voters anywhere near the event

On the other hand, apart from a 100 or so members of PASOK youth wing, carefully positioned in front of the stage the rest of the audience consisted of old time party supporters whose average age was about 50.

The party is a spent force.
