A picture is worth a thousand words


Picture taken last Sunday of riot police aiming a pistol at protesters in central Athens. The photographer, Kostas Tsironis, who took this picture for the Eleutheros Typos newspaper subsequently lost his job.

Also here is video of Greek motorcycle cops firing pistols during clashes with demonstrators during the week. As you can see they are in no immediate danger. Yet another example of the poor discipline the police has shown in handling protests.

it might be interesting to non-greek speaking readers to learn that the name of the newspaper, eleutheros typos, actually means free press.
