Talking about life in Greece
You posted the videos! I'm glad you appreciate some German music!!
Are these songs anti-American?Lately, the media and an uninformed world public tries to slight America down at every corner. The fear I have as an American is that the world is losing it's objectivity and soon could not see any good in America because of prejudices repeated over and over. Remember, if you state a lie over and over, it sort of becomes a truth. I just hope decent people remember that America is more than the height of it's leaders.Amazingly, although many private citizens of the world show contempt for President Bush, most of these citizens' governments do not feel this way. They continue to be the friend of the American government and in some cases ignore the masses. What does this say? To me, it says that the governments of other countries (being in the know) realize the merit of America and will never let the rantings of their public overshadow their own national interests or friendship with a true ally. If venting, or screaming in the street, writing an article, or producing a song with the intent of protesting against America makes a person feel psychologically better, I'm all for it, but at the end of the day, nothing will change. With very few exceptions (Iran, North Korea, Venezuela) those ranters' governments will still be there to give the "nod" to America. We do not judge the current British people by the deeds of their past empire building, or the modern Greeks for the sins of Alexander the Great, so could not the same courtesy could be given to the USA?Please don't throw the baby out with the bathwater as it were.
