It's been one hell of a day. In the course of three and half hours this morning I saw five traffic accidents. Yes, five separate crashes involving cars, scooters, trucks and even an excavator. All of this on a clear, relatively warm day without a trace of rain, ice or fog . This is not to mention the two near accidents I saw last night, one of which involved a driver deliberately trying run down a pedestrian who dared to cross in front of him on a red light.
I tell you, driving behaviour here ranges from plain, old dumb to clinically psychotic.
Driving in Greece is indeed very dangerous! You should be careful!
ReplyDeleteI knew I missed something about the roads in Greece, although I've managed to see a couple of accidents during my sojourn in Austria as well
ReplyDeletePerfect timing.
ReplyDeleteI shouted at my son yesterday and told him to "BE CAREFUL on the roads". I'd popped over the road and was practically mown down by a bloke taking a corner (on a tiny road) too fast. I had to jump out of the way! He didn't attempt to hit the brakes. He didn't even slow down, let alone stop to apologise. I called him some unrepeatable things, shouted at my kid and spent the rest of the day worrying about what COULD have happened if I hadn't been so quick. Horrible. Horrible. This makes me so angry.... people trying to get somewhere 5 seconds before the next person. Wouldn't we rather EVERYONE was late rather than dead ? Rant over. For now.....
It is literally murder on the roads here in Thessaloniki.
